I've been meaning to post this all week... from an advert in
the "West Australian" of last Saturday:

Public Meeting
DIGITAL UPGRADE
TO UNIVERSAL SERVICE

The Australian Communications Authority (ACA) will
hold a public meeting in Perth on Tuesday 2 June
1998. The meeting forms part of the public inquiry
into whether the Government should make a digital
data capability broadly comparable to ISDN a part of
the Universal Service Obligation.

The meeting will be held in the Boronia Room,
Perth Ambassador Hotel from 7pm - 10pm.
Interested individuals and local organisations are invited
to make comment on relevant matters of concern to them.

In addition to comments or statements which can be
made at the meeting, written submissions can be made
up to Tuesday 30 June 1998.

Any enquiries about the meeting, which is intended to
be informal, can be directed to the ACA by contacting
1800 335 526. No prior registration for the meeting is
required.

A discussion paper (including the Inquiry's Terms of
Reference) to assist in making submissions or 
comments at the meeting is available from the
ACA by contacting 1800 335 526. The discussion
paper is also available from the ACA's website at
http://www.aca.gov.au
