I grew up in Canada, and migrated to Perth about 12 years ago. Some things I
found "different" about Perth, compared to where I come from:

Racial Predjudice- I am sure it exists everywhere, and probably to more or
less the same extent. What I found different about it in Perth is people's
willingness to say exactly how they felt. Trash talking of other
races/cultures that I noticed was not confined to any one group. So called
"ethnics" were/are just as happy to but the boot in to other ethnic groups.
Your experiences may be different.

Turning the streetlights off after midnight (I think they're kept on now)

Going to work for a 6 am start, and seeing other traffic on the road.

We still don't have Sunday trading. I don't know if this is a good thing or
a bad thing.

At the time I left a city of 600,000, and moved to a city of over a
million(Perth), yet the overall pace of life seemed to be a lot less hurried
in Perth.

Last, even though the world is becoming a smaller place, Perth is still a
long ways away from anywhere else of comparable size. This has to affect the
way that people who live here think of themselves.
