As in any database, you need an identifiable numbering system. Even letters can
be considered numbers for the purposes of database management.

Each item should have a code based on what the overall picture is. I know you
like airplane photos so using that as an example, the photo series might go into
a folder named AIR or AIR001 or A in a subfolder of AIR. Each photo inside could
be further categorized by subcategories like JET or PROP or GLIDER and followed
by a number like 0001 which allows for up to 9999 of any particular subcategory.

There's lots of Windows based photo managers out there. Come by the office (you
do need to get those receivers back) and I'll dig one up for you. LINUX doesn't
have that much but Ask Sam comes in a LINUX version which can be adapted to
photo album use.
