Looking for people who might be thinking about quitting smoking to
participate in research being conducted at the University of Waterloo
Dept. of Psychology, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
**********************************************************************

I am a graduate student in Psychology who is studying the experiences of
cigarette smokers. I am interested in hearing from people who are regular
cigarette smokers and who might have an interest in quitting sometime in
the near (or not-so-near) future. I'm interested in contacting people who
would be willing to share their feelings and opinions on a broad variety
of issues such as:

Smoking cessation -- What makes people decide to quit? Why is quitting so
hard? What has worked for you in the past?

The reactions of non-smokers to smokers -- Do you get hassled about
your smoking? If so, in what ways? How do you feel about it?

... and many more.

The study consists of a questionnaire (takes approx. 30 - 40 minutes) and
two brief follow-up interviews. The whole thing is completed via email
and the regular postal service, so distance is not a problem.

IMPORTANT:

1. This project has been reviewed and received ethics clearance through
the University of Waterloo's Office of Human Research and Animal Care.

2. This project is NOT intended to convince people to quit smoking, nor to
offer help or guidance to those who wish to quit.

If you think you might be interested, please contact me by e-mail at the
