Have you been sleeping?   Identification is necessary for travel between the 
United States and Canada. Effective June 1, 2009 all travelers must travel 
with a Passport, OR Passport Card, OR Enhanced Driver's License OR Enhanced 
ID Card (EDL/ID). Children under age 16 will be able to enter with proof of 
citizenship, no photo ID required.   The MPI enhanced id being issued now is 
accepted at the border.

As of June 1, 2009, everyone coming to Canada by land or sea is required to 
have a passport or equivalent (NEXUX card, passport card, FAST, or enhance 
driver licence.

It is not going to be passport only to enter Canada, it is still going to be 
passport or other approved id.
