Since the Americans seem to be heading down the road to financial ruin
with the Iraq war, it got me thinking about a possible solution. Namely
loan them some money (we are in a position where we are paying down our
debt) and have them put up one of their states as collateral. If they
default, the state becomes part of Canada. We could specify the state
has to share an existing border with Canada, otherwise the Americans
could choose. Leaving aside the issue of would they actually go for it
and live up to the agreement on default... Which state do you think
they'd put up and which state would we (as Canada) want?
