The first problem starts with the nature of news groups not being associated with specific areas of interest. The second is the lack of enthusiast clubs participation on the net largely due to the expense and lack of manpower to update a club site. Commercial sites have the problem of being overly focused on either product or publication. When we add to this the fact that WEB sites are like flies, they come and they go because they cannot generate sufficient income to justify the expense we can get a good scope on the problem. With respect to the specific of locating hard to find parts on the NET, the mere fact that navigating the NET is like driving a dirt back road after a rain discourages many new "motorhead" users at the very outset which certainly serves to reduce the number of user postings, the number of WEB sites etc. where such might be accomplished. The simple fact is that unless vehicle enthusiasts and the clubs they may belong to can come together in a single online arena there is never going to be a great deal of success in enthusiasts finding parts, selling parts or vehicles, or exchanging ideas. The commercial advertising needed to sustain any concept of online services for vehicle enthusiasts can only be attracted when the advertisers feel they are getting enough of the right exposures for their advertising dollar. Frankly they cannot do this by just creating a WEB site or Home Page on the NET. We have been attempting to address these issues via a direct access system called ROUTE 66 On-Line, 713-342-3650 modem. We will be happy to setup specific areas for any recognized vehicle club free. We cannot be accessed at this time via the net because of graphic protocol incompatibility, however we do have online color photo ads, stereo sound and are we much easier to navigate since there is nothing on the system that is not vehicle related.
