Good one, Alan. By "North America," I had meant Canada and the U.S.
(because although I've seen much of Mexico, I haven't been to quite
all of ITS towns & cities of 25,000 or more. Yet. :) )
Mexico City is a most exceptional place. I went to college there,
when the Univ. of the Americas was still on the Toluca road. (It's
since moved to Puebla.) I called Mexico City by a nickname with which
I dubbed it, when talking to friends: "Cosmopolis," because it's so
cosmopolitan, as you observed. And with a population of around 20
million, it may well be the world's most populous city. My favorite
pastime while attending college there was to go out to nearby
Amecameca on weekends and climb 18,000-ft./5,500-m Mount
Popocatepetl, Its a symmetrical volcano, easy to climb except for the
very thin air above 14,000 feet.
Today, Mexico City is tarnished by horrendous smog problems throughout
the Anahuac Valley, and terrible poverty and pollution on its fringes.
Yet it is still a very noteworthy city!
!!!!!!! BTW, I was flamed badly by a person who complained to my
Postmaster due to the automatic "spamming" nature of the Agent
program. This occurs unless one deletes the other NGs that are
displayed, before posting. In deference to all who have no interest
in this thread -- because it IS quite off-topic for many of those, I
request that you please e-mail me and tell me which group you no
longer want this thread on. Then I will ENSURE that my program no
longer spams to this thread on that/those group/groups. All such
requests made in a friendly manner will be honored. So will the
flames (although I won't be nearly as happy with you if you do that
:) .) I'm a participant in: ab.general ...and the first time I
responded to this thread, I hadn't realized that the post was going
out to others.
For those who enjoy this thread, I think we can have a lot of fun!

The Reform Act of 1832 in England, which updated the voting system and got
rid of the "rotten boroughs" which were simply owned by rich people and had no
population is said to have passed by a similar method. The bill had passed
the House of Commons, but there was a chance that the very conservative
House of Lords would reject it. A very fat lord walked through the aisle to
vote in favor, and the tellers count him as ten. Maybe a history buff can
tell me the source of this story, and if it has any smidgen of truth. But it
is nice to know that the principle is still in use.

Really? I boarded a comfortable Milwaukee bus this morning, and everything
looked fine to me.

Don't bother to thank us. Anyone who reads posts like this has time to spare.

It is very beautiful! There are redwood trees everywhere, some of which are over 1000 years old and have base diameters of 20ft. across! They are outstanding! Every area in the county has a view of redwood covered mountains. And if you ever get tired of mountains, we also have a beautiful coastline! It's really a beautiful place to live! I realize that you were looking for the most beautiful city, but I thought that you might like to hear about Humboldt. Has anyone ever heard of it?

An excellent choice! To the idea of including beautiful regions
or counties (or for Louisianans, parishes) in this... why not!
Back for a moment to the "spamming" nature of the posting
software, as I described earlier...

The following is the only feedback I've had thus far on this:
One request that we delete alt.3d from the thread.
Also, this is an unnecessary nuisance to the folks who maintain
test NGs. Therefore, I've deleted the following groups from this
post, and in deference to the above, I request that you ensure that
none of the following be included when you make your posts. That way,
only those who enjoy this thread will see it...
DELETE: alt.3d
alt.3d.misc
abg.test
acs.test
ak.test
alc.suicide
No one on the suicide group requested deletion, but I can't
imagine any group for which this thread would be much more off-topic.
So I included it in my "deletions" list.

Joel, Joel, Joel, It is with heavy heart that I must inform you Newark has become a suburb of New York City.....yes, THE New York City that is famous for that Taco Salza....hence, I declare (by the powers vested), New York City (et al) to be impossibly impossible...Newark is hereby disqualified from the runnings for misrepresentation. As was said in North Carolina when I was there....(many years ago)..anything North of North Carolina is North...anything North of West (by God) Virginia is New York...anything North of Washington D.C. is New York City....and anything east of Chicago is New York City.... Vancouver or Seattle Rulz!!!
