Well, if you are going to learn Pascal, I would suggest you go for Delphi 
instead.  The language is very similar to Pascal's and it is much easier to 
translate into Visual Basic because the structure of the language is almost 
the same.  And it's a lot easier to do the basic GUI things with Delphi too.
