SHORT STORY

4/4  FINAL PART

God agreed, but commented,
   "I made those basic pollutants, didn't I?  -- sulfur, radiation,
uranium. Man didn't make anything; he just hasn't learned to use things
properly yet. I have created the most disgusting bacteria and the most
devastating viruses. I just take advantage of man's stupidity to test
them."
   Satan went on. 
   "What about greed and poverty? Man is greedy by nature and falls easily
into poverty."
   God smiled in his usual mysterious way and commented, "You have never
been too smart, heh? Of course, they are greedy. I didn't make enough for
so many. I just made believe them I did. I plagued the planet with deserts
and unproductive lands and where I put land that produces abundant life, I
made it so that man cannot use that land lest he suffocates for lack of
air. They are not like me who can breath anything."
   He drank from his cup and said: "I'm the only one who can make this
divine wine. And back to your analysis, those who live in barren lands
must suffer poverty or become greedy to survive, even when they move out
they are cursed by an overwhelming compulsion of greed. Besides, I created
the whole Universe and I want it all for me, all for me to rule, and all
my creatures to obey my rules. And I don't want you to mess around with
them. You just stand there, shut up and look pretty." 
   Satan sighed, put the paper down and looked up at his creator.   
"Well?" he said defeated.
   And God just said:
   "I am your creator, am I not? I also made man in my own Image." What do
you expect?
