I tried activation and it worked perfectly. Activation wasn't the issue for me. My problem was that encrypted Adobe ebooks don't *necessarily* work on the PocketPC, even if the Adobe Reader on the PocketPC is activated and works with other encypted ebooks.

The vendor (Amazon.com) that I purchased the ebook from has told me that "some" of their Adobe ebooks work on the PocketPC and "some" do not. However, they don't tell you before you purchase it which works on the PPC.

Amazon.com suggested that I purchase all of my ebooks in Microsoft Reader format if I intend to use them on a PocketPC. Their tech support said *all* of their MS-Reader ebooks work on the PocketPC.
