I am using a Dell Axim X50V running Windows 2003 second edition. I have Acrobat Reader 2 for ppc installed which reads files with no problem. However, when I try to copy files to my device using Active Sync, it will only let me do so if I select the option *not* to convert them to tagged files. If the option to convert to tagged files is selected, it tells me that "There was a problem backing up your Synchronised Files folder" and "Conversion failed. The specified module could not be found." It then suggests I haven't got enough memory (which I have), or the files are read-only (which they aren't), or that I don't have permission to copy this file type. If I try copying pdf files to my device via Active Sync without converting them to tagged files, it works without any problems, but I can't reflow. Is there an easy way to persuade Active Sync to copy tagged pdf files to my device? Katie UK

Adobe has refused to acknowledge or address this problem and activesync has it's own set of problems. afaik, the only realistic option if you have an ongoing need is to buy a copy of one of the _adobe_ acrobat creator. Even then, many files cannot be tagged due to protection levels or the existence of even a single tag within the original file. Beverly Howard [MS MVP-Mobile Devices]

Have you been having this problem all along or has it only recently cropped up? What version of ActiveSync are you using?

Thanks, Beverley & Julie. I'm using version 4.5.0 of ActiveSync. Although the problem has only recently cropped up, I think I previously had ActiveSync set up so it didn't convert pdfs to tagged files, so it wouldn't have appeared before. I've only had my handheld for a couple of months so am still feeling my way.

Have you tried uninstalling ActiveSync and then reinstalling it? You might also think about downgrading ActiveSync to 4.2 - you really only need to use AS 4.5 if your device runs WM6.0 - and I think AS 4.5 is rather quirky.

I just solved this problem on my computer. This may or may not apply to you, but let me tell you what I found. When active-sync tries to move a PDF file to your PDA, the first thing it does is look for the tools it needs to tag that file. To find these tools, it goes to the folder where you first installed Adobe 2.0 on your computer. In my case, I moved that folder, thinking I could conserve hard disk space. You might also have deleted that folder, thinking it was no longer needed once Adobe 2.0 was on your PDA. In my case, once I put those files back in the same place where they were installed, the functionality was restored. I hope this helps. good luck!

also, note that you have to go through active-sync. you can't go through a bluetooth connection, if you have one.
