I have been plagued with problems with Adobe Reader for the past 6 months! Couldn't get it to work and couldn't get it off my computer! It wouldn't open and wouldn't let me open documents with Foxit. I was essentially out of the PDF business!! Got all kinds of advice - mostly poor - and last evening while reading through one of the Adobe forums, I found the answer!! Downloaded "Windows Install Cleanup Utility" from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301-ran it, identified Adobe to be removed, and it was gone!! Every crumb!! I then downloaded Adobe Reader 9.0 and was off and running!! I was warned that the first attempt to install it might not work, but to get out, and re-boot and try again. I had to do that. It took a while, and a couple of times I thought it had frozen, but I waited it out and it finally it finished. Now it's working as if nothing had ever happened. My thanks to the person who gave me the hint --no thanks to Adobe--they weren't any help at all!! Now I can shut Adobe down and use Foxit, which was my goal in the first place!! bj
