Take care: this is NOT a directory. Rather, it's where you go to run a
program. 

The fonts control panel shows all the fonts installed into your
system. (It doesn't show all the fonts that exist: Adobe programs also
search their own special directories. But these are not installed in
Windows, because no other programs can use them).

The fonts shown in the control panel COULD be anywhere. However, most
of them will be found in the Windows fonts folder.

Now, here is where it gets really complicated. The Windows fonts
folder is "magic" in two ways.

1. If you try to open the fonts control panel in Windows Explorer or
on your desktop, it doesn't do that. Instead it opens the Fonts
control panel. This shows all your installed fonts, even if they
aren't in the actual font folder.

2. When you open the fonts control panel, Windows searches for any new
fonts in the fonts FOLDER and installs them.
