I am using Audition 1.5 and am attempting to clean up a vinyl record. I am using the Younglove method and collected all of the silent (surface noise) parts and copied them to the beginning of the recording. I then took a noise sample over this and then tried to perform a noise reduction over the entire recording keeping only the noise (as per the steps).

This didn't work. The result was a slightly smaller wave file but it still contained almost all of the original signal. I went back and checked my settings and they looked fine.

I then pulled out my old Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and installed it and tried the same thing. The results were a wave file that was made of mostly just the noise which is what I was expecting. I went back to Audition and tried it again with no better results. I double checked all of the settings in the Noise Reduction and can't figure out why this isn't working.

I then uninstalled Audition and re-installed it from scratch thinking that some needed file got corrupted but no luck here either.

Was there some change made in the changeover to Audition where the "Keep Only Noise" doesn't work anymore? Is there some global setting that I am missing? Is there some DLL that it is dependent on that is the wrong version? I can do the work in CEP2 but Audition is a lot faster processing.

Any help or ideas to help me track this down would be most appreciated.
