Adobe CS4 and Canon Scanner LiDE35

I have Adobe CS4 and a Canon LiDE35 scanner. (Mac OS X 10.5.6)

Although I've downloaded the latest scanner driver from Canon, the scanner is unrecognized in, for example, CS4's Photoshop.

I have a temporary work-around: Haven't yet uninstalled the CS2 that CS4 replaced. Looks like I can scan into CS2, save, close, and reopen in CS4.

Anybody know how to get this scanner to play well with CS4?

Thanks.

Andy

Nevermind. Looks like I found the answer. In case anyone else needs the answer, here it is:

Andy,

Something to consider: You can be more productive by simply using the standalone software provided with your scanner. That is, you can continue to work on other projects in Photoshop while you are simultaneously scanning.

Never thought about that, Neil. Thanks.

Coincidentally, the CanoScan "Toolbox" software I downloaded from Canon's site doesn't work with Mac OS X 10.5.6.

I ended up reinstalling the original software that came with the scanner, and it works. It's an older interface, but now I can use my CanoScan LiDE35 with Mac OS X 10.5.6 for copying, faxing, etc, AND scanning into CS4's Photoshop.

Crazy how the older driver works, but the newer one doesn't.

Seems like this is more of a Mac OS X vs. Canon issue.

It is. Adobe has nothing to do with it beyond providing some specs.

Seems silly to use $1000 application as a UI for a scanner that costs less than $100

VueScan is also good scanner software.

Yep, plus the Canon "toolbox" was handy for other scanner uses, too. (Faxing, copying, etc.)

I deleted the latest Canon Toolbox software and reinstalled the older toolbox that came on disc with the scanner. It works fine with Mac OS X 10.5.6. Strange that the newer TB doesn't.

I'll give Canon an "A" for effort in the customer service department, though. Direct emails from me have been replied to promptly and personally.

The only suggestion I haven't tried that Canon suggests is moving the scanner connection from a USB hub directly to the computer.

Might check out VueScan anyway.

I think "Cannon" is a high-caliber company. ; )

Actually I was referring to Adobe CS4 Premium.

then you are using Photoshop extended which is $1000 software even if you only bought the Suite upgrade.
