Installing and uninstalling the trial of Dreamweaver CS4 broke my CS3 Design Premium install on Mac 10.5.6. The problem is a missing Adobe Utility2 file with this pathway: Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS4/payloads/AdobeUtilities2-mul/AdobeUtilities2-mul.dmg Once that's removed from the system a complete install of CS3 is crippled and 3 Shared Components cannot be reinstalled. Fixes using CS3 and CS4 Clean Script and all the various recommendations in the Knowledge Base do not fix the problem. Tech Support says there's no way to replace the file and they do not provide free support for this problem. Just to repeat, I used the CS4 Uninstall and did not drag to the trash. Does this mean a hard drive reformat? Any other ideas? P.S. Hope I'm finally in the right forum.

J,
There is no more support at adobe for this
Well, that would certainly clear the playing field. But maybe someone else here has a quicker solution.

I installed and then uninstalled (without dragging to the trash) a trial of Photoshop CS3. Now none of my CS2 programs work. The message says "a serious error has been detected, to continue using CS2 please reinstall the application." I got the same "we no longer provide support for this product, please consider spending another $600 to upgrade to CS4" message from Adobe. Attempts to reinstall have not been successful. Now what?

CS3 needs to be uninstalled not dragged to the trash that's is your problem. CS2 just needs to be trashed. remove what you want to save then trash. now you can reinstall. you may need to use the CS3 cleanscript to clean out CS3 mess you left behind.

The link below is to Tech Note and wormhole patch that allows CS3 to be reinstalled: <http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407277> The problem is actually a legacy issue related to the CS3 installer. Thanks to Adobe engineers for posting the solution.

Thanks, J. I'm going to put that useful link on the main page of this forum. Neil
