I have two questions: Background: I'm using convertRasterToPDF to go from psd to pdf. Within the psd, are two text columns. I'm taking a stab at how many characters should fit in the left column, then move the remaining characters to the right column. I'm not a designer, but know enough to realize it's very challenging to guess how many characters can fit in an area of a certain size (font, font size, actual characters, how to account for breaks (carriage return/line feed. Was the break near the beginning, middle, or end...) Now, my questions: 1. Is there an option to turn off the breaking up of a word, forcing the entire word to the next line (it adds a hyphen, the client prefers to keep the words together). 2. Is there any general guidelines, calculations, rules of thumb regarding how many characters of a given font and font size fit an a defined area (say 2" wide by 4" high). Maybe taking in to consideration that some letters are used more often that others? Or, is there a better way to handle two columns of text, one next to the other (like a newspaper column), filling the first column, then moving to the next? Thank you, Nathan Rosaaen

1. You can set the hyphenation options for each paragraph of text in your Photoshop template. You can turn it off completely, turn it off for words less than x characters, etc. AGS will use those settings. In some situations, using Photoshop's "No Break" character formatting may work. See: <http://support.adobe.com/devsup/devsup.nsf/docs/52577.htm> It doesn't work well with long runs of text. 2. I don't know about guidelines but there's another possiblity. AGS will warn you when the text didn't fit. See the Knowldege base article at: <http://support.adobe.com/devsup/devsup.nsf/docs/52561.htm> In your API code, you could guess or calculate how much text will fit, check for the warning, change the amount of text and/or the font size, try again, check again, etc.
