I created a proposal.dtd to follow along with the Help in FrameMaker 8 and when that one didn't work, I decided to start the process over but I created my own document stucture (Following all the steps in the Help). That is why I have a Preface.dtd

Here are my structapp definitions for both proposal and preface:

Application name:	Preface
DTD:	 $STRUCTDIR/XML/Preface/Preface.dtd
Template:	$STRUCTDIR/XML/Preface/Preface_Template.fm

Application name:	Proposal
DTD:	 $STRUCTDIR/XML/proposal/proposal.dtd
Template:	$STRUCTDIR/XML/proposal/proposal_template.fm

Help process I followed:

Building the proposal EDD
-successfully completed step
Testing the EDD by importing into definitions into a document
-successful
Adding formatting to the EDD
-successful
Building the structured application
1. saved edd as dtd
2. created structured template by deleting content of original Framefile file and saving as template
3. configured the structured application as specified in the help
-successful
Round tripping
Opened my FrameMaker proposal template and imported the EDD into it and created a basic proposal that followed the structure as it should. After I chose save as XML and selected proposal for the application that is when I received the error.
