For an individual equation, select all or part of the equation and choose Graphics>Object Properties. Then from the Equation Size drop-down list, choose the desired size. To do a mass conversion, e.g. convert all small to medium in the document, save as MIF and find and replace on the text strings as Michael Tooley suggested. I have done this many times without serious problems. Two things to watch for are the wrapping of equations (anchored frame size and positioning after the conversion) and positioning of equations when they need to align with drawn or imported graphics in anchored frames.
