Changing Header system variable

Hi all,

I've been asked to produce a template that can be used across multiple documents - which ultimately means only one template to simplify (supposedly) the entire update of document styles.

My problem is this. I need an easy way for the template to apply each documents title to the header.

While this obviously can be done via the system variable <$filename> it retains the file extension (ie. FrameMaker Guide.fm) and I don't want the ".fm" as the document is actually meant to be printed for people outside of the organization, not as a reference for us to know what the file is called.

Is there a quick way to have the variable recognise the document name without attaching the .fm to it?

Regards,

Paul
