I recently had this same problem. When I tried the Esc ns inside the word, it still broke the word at the slash (/). Like Jonathan, I hate it when a line breaks at a slash. Unfortunately, my writing often contains long words joined by a slash. It's the ones composes of single letters, such as I/O and T/L, that really bug me. While Tim's suggestion certain prevents this, is there a true "nonbreaking" slash character somewhere. I tried the fraction symbol, which seems to prevent the line break, but it just doesn't look right. --Linda
