HELP! Need to know how to import Visio & ClarisDraw images!

I'm not sure why, but when I try to import a Visio image or ClarisDraw (1.0 v2) image thru File>Import>File or File>Import>Object, neither way brings in the images. The "File" way lists a bunch of filters, none for Visio or ClarisDraw images, and the "Object" way imports a portion of the image only. I found I had to copy and paste the images from their original applications to get the full image on the page. And, in order to reference them, I've had to use Paste Special.  Is there a better way? HELP!!
