Medieval mentality 

I�ve been arguing for multiple undo in the multiple undo thread. The need to argue for multiple undo, not only against Adobe, but against FM users, makes me feel like I�m coming from the world out there � the world of exuberant technological progress � to the world in here � the world of medieval mentality. I�m aghast at discovering that there�s a cadre of FM users who will argue vociferously for the adequacy of the backward tool set of FM. Maybe Adobe is satisfying most FM users because most FM users lack a vision for how much more efficient their work could be if they had a more advanced tool set. 

I can�t help thinking that if this dialog were occurring in the 1980s, the equivalent of today�s FM users would contain a cadre who would argue vociferously for the typewriter over the personal computer because of the typewriter�s reliability compared with the reliability of a personal computer. This was the theme of my satire in message 41. 

In the hope of engendering serious discussion on the future of the FM user, for interested readers I�ve started a thread entitled �Will the FM user go the way of the dodo?�
