I'm amused by your increasingly strident posts against its use, Sean. Then, honestly, you haven't been paying attention. 1) I am not against it's use. I merely claim it is largely unncessary in FrameMaker. Furthermore, I claim it is not, for me, a critical feature in evaluating the DTP software I want to use and there are more important issues. For example, I would rather Adobe expand and make better FrameMaker's import filters than implement multiple undo. On a scale of importance from 1-10, 10 being highest, multiple undo rates a 2 or 3 for me, with stability and robustness of features rating a 9 or 10. I do agree, a product with less stability would benefit more from multiple undo. And, I do agree that people used to unstable software and twiddling with fonts might perceive multiple undo as a must-have feature. 2) I want mulitple undo in FrameMaker, I have said that. Multiple undo is helpful in page layout design situations (which is not much of an issue in FM I agree) 3) Errrrr . . . then we are on the same page. Are you amused by yourself? use tag A, change formatting to B, then to C. Don't like it, press undo twice to get back to original formatting. 4) You are thinking more locally than I. I am considering testing, changing, and retesting design globally for your document. And, you are making these changes in a designer, right? Like, uuuuum, paragraph designer? So, why not just modify that and update all instead of multiple undo? And, in your vision, does multiple undo undo the the fields you changed in designer one at a time or since the last apply or what? Again, I think you are failing to see the strenght in the designers and structuring your documents globally, rather than one word at a time. do you really regard the logical stepping back of one's operations one step at a time in multiple undo as "chaotic"? 5) Not if you are only going back one step. However, if you have to go back multiple steps, you have to undo everything, good or bad, or nothing. Now, an editable history list of your actions would be much less chaotic than multiple undo. and in writing (which is an issue in FM) I'm with you and Steve on this, partly. Undo is an all or nothing thing. So, deletion or reverting to a previously saved copy would work just as well--both are as convenient as pressing ctrl+Z many times. However, I agree that the ctrl and z keys are conveniently located and agree that we get a mindset of using multiple undo rather than considering that there might be other equally efficient, or more efficient methods of accomplishing the same goal. Methinks this horse is long-past dead. I see nobody is going to convince anybody. Let's just hope Adobe can put an end to this by offering multiple undo in a future release, eh! Cheers, Sean
