Is the FM market worth competing for?

The argument about competition, in message 58, assumes that the FM market is sufficiently large to make it worthwhile to compete for. So its worth taking a moment to consider this issue.

In the PDF document on this website entitled How to Choose the Right Adobe Page Layout Software, Adobe compares InDesign, PM, and FM. According to this document, InDesign is for graphic design; PM is for routine business documents; and FM is for books, manuals, and technical documents.

Regarding FM, Adobe goes so far as to state the following:

FrameMaker includes all of the authoring tools and features required for reliable, template-driven content authoring.

Given Adobes definition of the FM market, the FM market is clearly worth competing for.

As for Adobes claim that FM includes all of the tools and features required for reliable authoring of books, manuals, and technical documents, the substance of this thread casts serious doubt on the claim.
