Not sure what else to do besides take a sledgehammer to this one machine. Here's the deal: Relatively brand new MacPro, 4GB RAM, running OS 10.5.6. User has CHRONIC issues with IllCS3 crashing on save. For the second time yesterday, I re-formatted the hard drive, did a complete clean install of EVERYTHING (OS and apps), swapped out RAM modules, ran the app in Rosetta, etc. It will run fine for a while, but inevitably it will crash. Yes, I've trashed all the prefs, done multiple re-installs of CS3, etc. She's working locally, not off the network. My only possible mistake yesterday was not sticking with 10.5.2. Not sure if that matters. When I go to the Console, here is the error that I get every time: objc [816] Class EpicController is implemented in both /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS3/Adobe Illustrator.app/Contents/Framework/adobe_personalization.framework/adobe_personalization and /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS3/Adobe Illustrator.app/Contents/Frameworks/adobe_registration.framework/adobe_registration. Using implementation from /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS3/Adobe Illustrator.app/contents/frameworks/adobe_registration. It repeats with Class EpicWizardController, EpicJSWindowExternalHandler, and EpicPanel. I honestly do not know what to do at this point. If only there was a way to run 10.4.11 on the newer MacPros, life would be SO much easier.... If I have time, I will do a clean re-install of 10.5.2 and leave it, but that's a bit time consuming right now.

D.C., I have the same sort of trouble with my desktop cpu (Power Mac G5, 2 GHz). CS 3 apps crash when saving. Photoshop is usually very reliable, so for it to crash, there must be a serious issue. I have not invested the same level of effort to "fix" the problem, other that re installing cs 3 applications. No improvement with that action. The problem surfaced about two weeks ago. I think os X 5.6 may have something to do with it. Were you successful with re-installing 5.2? I may have to borrow that sledgehammer! My MacBook Pro has no problems-- cs 3 apps are not crashing. Thank goodness.

This may be the Answer Adobe's TechNote site: Adobe Creative Suite 3 products crash when you save, open, or place a file, after installing the Version Cue CS3 3.1.0 update (Mac OS X v10.4.x - 10.5) Site has this information: "Note: There is no visual feedback that the script ran successfully, but the completion of it is instantaneous. You don't need to reboot. You can now use the Creative Suite 3 products as expected. Products affected: Creative Suite, Illustrator, InDesign, Version Cue" It is found here: <http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402521&sliceId=1>
