Re: Problem while tracking changes around tags (Bug?)

I have a small update on our problem: Today I tested some more files and it seems that this bug not only occurs on tags in combination with tables, but on tags in general.

I created a fresh document with some dummy text, positioned a tag somewhere within the document and put some content between the tag. It looks basically something like this:

Text Text Text ... Text Text [ Tag ] Some Text [ /Tag ] Text Text Text ... Text

As soon as you remove text right in front of the tag (with tracking changes turned on), save and reopen the document the positions of the left marker and the removed text is swapped:

Before: Text Text ... Text //Removed Text//[ Tag ] Some Text [ /Tag ] Text Text

After: Text Text ... Text [ Tag ]//Removed Text// Some Text [ /Tag ] Text Text

(This would be much more easy if I could post some demo files ;-) )

The bad thing about that - which brings us back to the problem in the last post - is that if a tag isn't placed in between the text but stands alone surrounded by newlines

Text Text Text ... Text\n
\n
[ Tag ] Some Text [ /Tag ]\n
\n
Text Text Text ... Text
....

this procedure removes the left marker and replaces it with a colored bar (like a tracked change, but running further on the line) you better not select. If you do so, InCopy freezes up.

I still think the problem comes down to the way those markers and those changesets are stored in the .incx file. The procedure above creates the following entries when you take a look at the sourcefile:

Text Text <?aid Self="rc_ua9cins45e"?><?aid Self="rc_ua9cins45e"?>Inhalt<?aid Self="rc_ua9cins465"?> Text Text ...

The first processing instruction is inserted after removing the text in front of the marker, it is linked to the changeset at the bottom of the file (Note the duplicate ID of that Self="" statement). The other two instructions represent the left and the right marker of our tag. On re-opening the file it seems like the changeset is linked to the second one, therefore appearing on the right side of the marker instead of the left one like seen in the first example above.

Very strange behaviour. Anybody experiencing the same thing?

Regards
Stefan
