Val: Since Windows was designed more for office users than for DTP work, it assigns first priority to TrueType fonts in the system Fonts folder, even if you turn on a Type I font with the same name. Bad news when you're preparing a job for print! I recommend that you remove ALL TrueType and PostScipt fonts from your c:\windows\fonts folder except the bare minimum system fonts (the only TrueType fonts in my Fonts folder are Outlook.ttf and Tahoma.ttf--the rest are a few .fon fonts needed by the operating system). First, turn off all font sets in ATM, then quit all programs. This frees the fonts so you can move them out of the system font folder. Move all your TrueType fonts to the c:\ATMFolder that ATM creates, and move all your Type I fonts to c:\psfonts. Now you can control which fonts load by using ATM font sets, meaning you can turn on the Type I version of a font instead of the TrueType version. I have my Starter Set, containing fonts I always want to have available (Palatino, Times New Roman, Helvetica, Symbol, Zapf Dingbats, etc.) on at all times. I then make a separate font set for every job I work on, turning on only the fonts I need for that job. When I start on another job, I turn off the first set and turn on the other. If you currently have a lot of fonts in your c:\windows\fonts folder, you'll find that your system is more responsive and less crash-prone when you turn on only those fonts you need. You'll also have more predictable output and less chance of reflow when you send the file to your printer or service bureau. Scott
