Acrobat Pro has a number of preflight options and can convert RGB Black type to 100K (although one could argue that checking PDFs is really postflight!).

If you simply want better preflight for native files and PDFs, FightCheck from Markzware is one of the better programs.

PitStop Pro is one of the better programs for inspecting and editing PDFs--and requires Acrobat (Pro suggested).
