I just realized that my previoius post doesn't quite answer your request. (God, I hate it when people do that). Allow me to explain further. In my workflow I have found that keeping different file-versions of the same image together as much as possible is desireable. I have tried to do this at all costs including writing an AppleScript called MacReunion that helps to "reunite" files that have been separated into different folders by matching file names and creation and modification dates.

I am quessing that the reason that you want to separate the RAW and JPEG files is the anoying habit of most renaming tools of turning files like MyFile.JPG and MyFile.RAW (obviously different versions of the same image) into NewFile-001.JPG and NewFIle-002.RAW, which breaks the logical connection between these files.

The RCF (Rename Camera Files) script in my download is written in such a way as to avoid this problem. A different way to work around this same limitation is to include the original file name in the new name. For example IMG001.JPG and IMG001.RAW become 20040626-IMG001.JPG and 20040626-IMG001.RAW.
