Postscript tray select - empty trays

I have an application with prints each page from a specified tray using
code:
% use tray 2
<</ManualFeed false /MediaPosition 0>> setpagedevice

% use tray 3
<</ManualFeed false /MediaPosition 1>> setpagedevice

It is working fine til, say tray 2 is empty, it puts message that tray is empty and then pulls paper from a different tray. Is there a way in postscript to keep it from defaulting to a different tray, when the specified tray is empty.
This is on an HP Laser Jet 8150 printer.

When I run it on a HP 4100dtn printer it stops til paper is replenished.
Thanks
Dale
