What about an AppleScript droplet (or AS Folder Action) running on the OS 9 system, that changes the file-type of anything dropped onto (or into) it to TEXT? This would be something of a _post facto_ kluge, but at least it would be quick (doesn't need to read the file, just its Finder Info) & automatic -- and therefore far preferable to opening & resaving all the time. -- Odysseus
