I would like to collect a string variable from an html form and then insert it in a specific location on every page of a postscript file before distilling to pdf. What is the best way to achieve this. Thanks RK When I leave a insert a place holder like say CLIENT_NAME in a powerpoint file it becomes scrable in the the postscript file like (C)xxxx xxx MS (L)xxx xxx etc. I can not edit the file manually as there are hundreds of files and they change often. Thanks

Try to use an unique font for this template text and turn off kerning (if that is possible with your application). Then see if the template string reads like (CLIENT_NAME). If not - sigh. collecting snippets to words in the general case could only be done - if at all - by PostScript routines; these usually are some 500 lines of code (I've done several).

Thanks Helge, It worked. After inserting the client_name place holder I was able to find/replace with a variable string using perl and regular expression. RK
