I need help instructing printer (xerox 9000) to staple a PostScript report generated by SQR. The code generated is Level 1 and << /staple 2 >> setpagedevice does not seem to work. Any suggestions ?????

Thanks in advance.

Have you referred to the PPD?

Thanks for your response, Aandi but, How do I get hold of the PPD ? The printer driver files are default files which are part of the sytem files on AIX,the UNIX system, we use here.

The printer maker should supply the PPD. Check Xerox' web site.

My printer is not Xerox but its HP Lazerjet 9000. Sorry about mis-information. I checked with HP printer support and it appears that the drivers we are using are native to AIX OS. There will be no PPD file in that case. The printer should be able to recognize PLC or Postscript. What should I be doing in that case??

Once again thanks for your help.

You should get the PPD, whether you need it or not for the driver.
The PPD is the place to look for device-control PostScript
instructions.

It took me half a year of wrangling to get my PPD file for another printer. Finally I turned to a customer protection authority. They were prepared to sue the company on my behalf for the price of a PC, what I needed to control the printer since the CD that came with the printer contained only PC and Mac stuff.

Suddenly, I got my PPD file and now I know how to pick up paper from this casette or the other. Why the heck was this a secret?

Knowing HP (All Hail Karley!) the driver you need is numbered and bundled for another model ...
