First - Is there any documentation for Pscript5.dll? Version features and changes that sort of thing? I have continued my testing and reposted my before and after files. Any help will be greatly appreciated. RECAP + new files I have code that generates a .ps from a MS Word document. That .ps file can be input to a c++ dll that will transform it into two up. Much like this perl script will <http://www.cs.indiana.edu/docproject/programming/postscript/nup.html> We are upgrading our systems from NT to XP. We had the bright idea that maybe we should use the most current Postscript driver for XP. Old driver - AdobePS5.dll Version 5.1.2 New driver - PScript5.dll Version 5.2 (download pkg is marked 1.0.6) Everything was working fine until I made the upgrade on the postscript driver. I still get a .ps file but it won't distill. %%[ Error: invalidrestore; OffendingCommand: restore ]%% Stack: -save- -save- The really weird part is using the old NT driver works on my XP machine. Not an option to keep using it - as the project leader wants to "move ahead". So I figure there must be language changes or driver differences documented somewhere. I have been searching for version change documentation on the new Postscript Driver 1.0.6 on Adobe's site with no luck. I stopped my process and saved the postscript files before they hit my c++ program and I noticed some differences right off the bat with ehsave being a new addition. userdict begin /ehsave save def end ... ehsave restore I am a total newcomer to .ps so any help is appeciated. Where did I go wrong? Thanks, Heide Software versions Windows XP professional MS Office 2003 Adobe 6.0 Adobe Print Driver 1.06 c++ dll <http://www.zcan.net/heide/MagicTwoUp.cpp> .ps from new driver <http://www.zcan.net/heide/Inputtotwoupsample_adobe106.ps> <http://www.zcan.net/heide/Outputfromtwoupsample_adobe106.ps>

>First - Is there any documentation for Pscript5.dll? Version features and changes that sort of thing? Not really. Microsoft just choose different features to reflect OS standards, whims, that sort of thing. Nothing at all would document the sort of issues you are experiencing, because printer driver makers are only interested in making files that print - your kind of post-processing is hard work and extremely version dependent - that's why people like Imposition software makers employ teams of PostScript specialists to keep on top of it. Hello Heide, There is a 'save' and 'restore' at the beginning and end in the PS-File. That's actually not necessary, but can led to this fault. Just comment two lines in the cpp out: // fprintf( hfile, "save\n" ); and // fprintf( hfile, "restore\n" ); Hope this helps. Norbert

Thank you. Commenting those lines worked. Where do I send the flowers and chocolates? Heide
