Hi,
I'm newbie in PS programming, i need to know how to programmatic modify PS file.
I have one PS file, which generate from one of printer driver ( it's not send to printer for printer, it will store it as PS file ).
At first, i will like to know how to alter this PS file in program way, like using C++, is they any SDK available that can perform this below function :
1. how to get the number of print copies for certain print job from PS file ?
2. how to filter PS file with pages, like i only need page 1 to 5, other will discard.
Appreciate any help ... thanks
Regards
PK

In general, modifying PS files is a difficult or impossible task for an experierenced PostScript programmer. But in some cases - where you are dealing with PostScript from one source ONLY, this can be fairly simple, especially if you are happy for it to fail some of the time. If you have to deal with PS from all over, you need to consider working with a PS interpreter to deliver this information/function. If it is just one source 1. Create a file with an unusual number of copies and search the file for that count (<255). Look for the context. 2. If the file is DSC compliant, you can use the %%Page and other comments to filter out pages. Aandi Inston

It's up to you to analyse the files and see whether it's easy or hard in particular cases. You certainly need to start by learning PostScript, but don't assume that makes it easy. I think we would have to say that the best way to convert PostScript to PDF, given that these are the Adobe forums, is Adobe Acrobat Distiller! Aandi Inston
