Mike,

There are many users out there with far more knowledge than I on this subject.

Your settings look fine. Just make sure that when you are working with color-management-aware applications -- such as Photoshop 6/7, Illustrator 10, and InDesign 2 -- that your CMYK work and print space profiles all correspond to your Print Color control panel CMYK setting, e.g., U.S. Web Coated (SWOP).

Personally, I have had better results using Relative Colorimetric at print-time, but that may be just me.

Here's the basic thinking behind NOT messing around with PR's output profiles. They are what determine the "simulation." PR's raison d'οΏ½tre is local prepress proofing using a desktop inkjet printer.

You say you want to "refine color accuracy," but what is your reference? What do you mean, exactly, by "best results"?

Let's say your printing service was actually able to provide you with an ICC output profile that accurately represented their press conditions. You would plug that profile into Photoshop (both as work and print space) and the PR control panel.

If the PR output under those circumstances is not an accurate representation of final press output, then you have a problem with your MEDIA profile.

Under those same circumstances, calling on your printing service to match your PR proof based on a custom output profile of your own creation would most likely fall on deaf ears.

I hope I'm making some sense.
