Ho,

Thanks for the reply.

I don't know how it performs, but here in the UK, the HP 1220C is still available and has droped considerably in price --- now 230, used to be around 300 if I recall correctly. I, like yourself had been considering a second printer (the HP), particularly if the networking idea is valid.

Much as I love the 1270 output, I do get problems with black ink smudges, which seems to clear after several prints. I had an old HP Deskjet 550c for about 7 years with never a hint of ink problems, which is why I was thinking about the HP 1220C, which has Win XP drivers, and is also supported by the iProof RIP as a possible 'fail safe' option. The Epson 3000 is a good idea but the last time I checked, didn't have Win XP drivers. On one of the email graphic lists I'm on, s regular contributer was full of praise for the Epson 3000 iProof combination. He was also running PressReady with it, which he recomended if it was still obtainable.

Sometimes I feel like I'm going round in circles trying to work out the best option!

Dick
