Printing to "Landscape" fails using Adobe PostScript Printer Driver

Hi,

System specs:
Windows XP Professional SP1, English
Acrobat 5
Acrobat 6 Professional
Adobe PostScript Driver installed twice with two different PPD:s (The English PPD:s from Acrobat5 and 6 respectively).

I have a problem with getting the output PDF to be real "landscape", despite the fact that I specify the print as landscape in all possible ways.
I have installed the Adobe PostScript Printer Driver (http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/printerdrivers/win/1.x/winsteng.exe) twice, with two different PPD's: this one <http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/printerdrivers/win/all/ppdfiles/adobe.zip>
and the one that comes with Distiller 6, (called ADPDF6.PPD).

I have tried printing to PostScript via the two different Printers using the two different PPD:s, from two different applications: FrameMaker and Microsoft Word. In both applications the template has been set to A4 landscape both in the "page setup" and in later in the print setup, when printing to PostScript. Both PS-printers have also been set to A4 landscape by default in their respective properties.

After printing to PostScript I have distilled the PS-file, both in Distiller5 and 6, using different joboption-files.

What ever I try to do I just can't get a PDF that comes out as A4 landscape, all the time it is portrait in Acrobat. The text is positioned correctly though, as if it was an A4 landscape document, it's just that the PDF is flipped 90degrees counter-clockwise in Acrobat and shown as portrait.

Yes, I know, there is an option in the Distiller to "Auto-Rotate pages", and yes, then the final PDF may come out as landscape. BUT: I don't want to do this, I want my PostScript to be landscape already and not mess with it in Distiller. Because, if auto-rotating in Distiller to achieve landscape, when later trying to apply page boxes (trim, bleed) in Acrobat to the PDF, the coordinates are all wrong. Origo is not in the lower left of the now Landscaped PDF, but instead seems to be preserved in the upper left corner (I think), which was correct in PostScript when the "document" still (oddly enough) was Portrait.

Is there something really basic that I am missing here? Why does it seem impossible to get a landscaped PostScript file via the Adobe PostScript Printer Driver?

Any help or comments on this matter are really appreciated.

Best regards,
Martin Aronsson
