We are generating Postscript files using a printer queue/driver. This file contains multiple patient records, split apart by "Acct". We then have a program that goes in and searches that file for each occurrence of "Acct". It then breaks the file into smaller files at each "Acct". The problem is that, for some unknown reason, out printer driver stopped sending ASCII text in the postscript file. It now encodes everything. We can't search the file now and the processor is failing. Does anyone know why some printer drivers send ASCII within the postscript output file and some do not? We are at a loss on how to resolve this.

Unfortunately, printer drivers consider their only job to be printing. So they don't tend to have options to produce convenient PostScript for reading, hand editing, or automated post processing. If you did not change anything, there may be some option that applies. But if you did anything like update the driver or change operating system, there's little hope. If you changed the font you used this can make a significant difference. Aandi Inston
