Seeking documentation on down loading fonts using AdobePS driver

I have an application that generates postscript directly, I wish to be able to download fonts referenced in this application using the AdobePS driver, but I haven't been able to find any documentation on how to do this. Can anyone help ?

If you are using the Windows GDI to print, simply using the font in
the DC causes suitable font definitions to be downloaded.

If generating your own code, you have to include the font definitions
(in PFA format) in the print stream - nothing special about them as
far as AdobePS is concerned.

Thanks for response, but I read your reply as having the app embed the fonts in the postscript stream. According to tech. note 5640, the AdobePS driver can download a single-byte font by using the system call ESCAPE(DownLoadFace). It appears that similar options are available for downloading truetype fonts etc. Any idea where I can find documentatioon about this and any related calls

Yes... why would you do it any other way?

I would rather have the driver embed the font in the postscript stream (rather than my app) as then I don't have to worry about what format the font is in (.ttf,.pfb), where it is located and maintaining the font embedding code

Seems a good motivation. The only documenation seems to be two sparse
mentions in the MSDN library. It isn't clear whether the PostScript
name of the font is going to be predictable.
