Mark - for now that's what I will do. However, I feel that having to not update is not a long term solution. I need these forms to be in service for many years. Although the design will almost certainly alter slightly over time I am designing now for future capability within my company i.e the forms should never need to be completely re-written. I don't want to have to re-write them every few years for technical reasons.

Mike - I do not have a definitive solution as yet. I really hadn't thought this could happen (functionality being removed/changing) with Adobe, so I am only now looking into other methods. Most likely is that I will actually use Java to build an interface to accept the data then write it to a data file and an open source document standard. That way the functionality is under my control!

Thanks everyone for your help. :-)
