Do a complete uninstall of ALL versions of Reader. Start by using ADD/Remove programs in Control Panel. Then remove any remaining folders. It may be necessary to edit the Registry as well-VERY DANGEROUS!! If you are uncomfortable with doing this then DON'T. There are several programs that can and will clean the Registry of "orphaned" keys. Reboot the computer. Now go to the Adobe site and do a download of Reader 8 (~20megs) and try a fresh install. This should work. Good luck
