Hi Mark, I did as you instructed as I have never used the Root account (it had a blank password since it was never activated). Your instructions were fine and I ran Verify Permissions on my boot drive (where Adobe Reader 8 is located) and got this result (logged in as Root): Verify permissions for �Western Digital 160 HD� Determining correct file permissions. Permissions verification complete The privileges have been verified or repaired on the selected volume So my drive is fine. I then logged back in with my regular user account (it's the only user defined) that has full Administrator privileges.
