Printing over a network

I have been unable to print over my network since Reader version 7.0x. I can print PDFs fine from Apple Preview or PDFView. The problem also exists in Reader 8. This is the ONLY app I have had problems printing from

What happens:

I go through the print dialog normally, and send out the job but the printer does not respond. When I look at the queues I get this: on the print server it says "Processing Job" with the progress bar to the very end. Nothing ever happens. On the client computer, the queue says "Waiting for Job to Complete" and the "barbers pole" spins on the progress bar. Nothing ever completes.

I've already tried installing latest drivers on both computers and resetting everything in the Printer Setup Utility (including trashing prefs, etc.)

Setup:

Print Server: PowerMac G5 2.0DP; Canon S750 via USB; OS X.48; 2.5 GB RAM; >1TB storage

Client: PowerMac 2.5 Quad; OS X.48; 4.5 GB RAM; >3TB storage

They are connected via gigabit ethernet through a D-Link DGS-1005D gigabit switch.
