To check what warning I may have read to quickly during the
installation process, I done everything from scratch on a new
Mac running MacOS X 10.4.11. There wasn't any Adobe Reader
software installed on this Mac.
I downloaded Adobe Reader 9.0.0 from the Adobe web server,
unpacked it and ran the installer. There wasn't any error
or warning message during the installation process.

At the end of this installation process I opened Adobe Reader
and it asked me for an admin account (without any explanation),
and after a while was again able to answer.

When trying to open :

      Adobe Reader > Preferences

it does just display the same error window:

Failed to load an application resource

This is clearly a serious bug, and I'm pretty sure Adobe is working
seriously on it and a fix is on its way.
