oops, thanks, sorry for being in the wrong group, is there a group for acrobat somewhere? and your answer still does not address my question, i know how to get the toolbar up, the problem is that the icons are kind of grey shaded, i.e. inactive, when i click on them to make some highlighting or a comment they do nothing, as opposed to in other documents i'm working on, they work, HELP!!!! :) wish i could attach an image of a screen shot to show you what i mean...
