Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I get the error message even when Adobe Reader hasn't been opened since I logged on. So disabling display PDF in browser, in addition to being very inconvenient, probably wouldn't be helpful in eliminating the error messages. Likewise AdobeKiller, even if the link to it weren't dead. As for the bat script, I'm running WinXP SP2 Home edition, which doesn't have Group Policy Editor. As one of the contributors to the other thread, which I notice was initiated last April, intimated, the error message is a known bug that Adobe should address. We shouldn't have to be cobbling together workarounds involving bat scripts or an additional program whose sole function is to deal with the bug. The fact that the bug is so widespread and so well known that someone went to the trouble of writing a program to deal with it is mind-boggling. Does anyone from Adobe read these threads? The Reader is a free program, but one has to have it in one's system in order to read PDF files, so Adobe ought to fix the Reader and eliminate the bug. Not doing anything about the bug can only annoy and alienate those who use Adobe products. This is a classic no-brainer situation, Adobe. Fix the Reader!
