making a PDF Document from a WORD DOCUMENT using DISTILLER

I have a word document which is composed of 450 pages (of .jpg images).

When I 'print to file' (using Acrobat Distiller as my default Printer), I create a .ps file which I can then open with Distiller and create a PDF document.

Unfortunately, it's not working out the way I would like.....sometimes it makes a PDF document that is 230 pages, sometimes it makes a document that is 160 pages.

I'm not sure why Acrobat Distiller isn't producing a complete PDF document for me :-(

Any ideas??
